Ask Alexandra – December 2014

1) I just showed my Dad (Norman Fleishman) your TED TALK – amazing! He worked for Planned Parenthood for many years and helped start the first vasectomy clinic in the country. He co-wrote a book about vasectomy (still available on Amazon) He resonated with your views word for word and was deeply touched as he also has felt strongly about this cause for many years, and felt that NO ONE is talking about it!

Thank you for all your work. Thank you, Saro Deacon

Hi Saro,

Norman Fleishman sounds like my kind of guy! I think his work is wonderful and important. Thank you for watching my TEDx talk.

I also have several short interviews that might be of particular interest to him – I speak with men who have had vasectomies (including my husband, Ian) about their experience. I am hoping to tackle some of the trepidation men have about the procedure, especially their concerns about losing virility and desire. I think this testimony eradicates that fear!

I just read the upcoming edition of Dave Foreman’s book Man Swarm, and I spoke to a filmmaker yesterday who is making a documentary about human overpopulation, so thank goodness you, your father and I are not the only ones deeply concerned about this issue! We just have to keep it up and never stop talking about it as directly as possible.

Best wishes to you for a happy holiday. And hello to your father!

2) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Alexandra to you and your family. I don’t have a question. It is funny I had forgotten that you were in the series Baywatch because I love you for all the movies you have made. Every time I see your name in the cast credits of a movie I know that I will have a great time. Thank you for all the enjoyable times you gave given me. I just watched Christmas Crash on Lifetime today I live in Southern California. It was a great heartwarming movie. Keep living the life you do and inspire all of us to get more involved in saving our world for future generations. Your loyal fan, Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,

Thank you for writing. Since I starred on Baywatch 20 years ago, I am not surprised you forgot I was in that show! I would forget too, but I keep getting reminded! (Not that I mind being reminded, as it was a great experience and I still am close to many of my castmates – had email exchanges with both David Chokachi and Jaason Simmons this week, actually).

I am glad you enjoyed Christmas Crash. I enjoyed shooting that movie, especially because my friend Anne Openshaw also worked on that movie. I got a kick out of Michael Madsen too, he made me laugh. He plays a businessman in it, as you know, but they had a devil of a time covering up all his tattoos! And he hated that he could not have a big shootout scene but alas, it is my character who saves the day!

I am currently shooting a movie called Flirting with Madness that I expect will air on Lifetime, and next year you can see me starring in the SyFy movie FireQuake.
