A Day In The Life – July 2002

July is a good month – one is already in the groove of summer, without the melancholy August brings because Labor Day is just around the corner. It is also the month I was born, and this year I celebrated, on July 29th, my 39th birthday. A ton of thanks to all of you who sent Caroline and me birthday greetings. Wow! I read every one and each touched me very much. I am so lucky to have the kindest, sweetest fans in the world.

Ian and I drove up to San Francisco so we could celebrate with my dad and Caroline, and we all had a terrific time. I ate a lot of cheesecake and ice cream and lost at Scrabble – my beloved (and smart) husband beat us all soundly. I had seen my mom the week before, at my cousin Justin’s wedding in England, and she was still overseas. My brother, Jonathan, was in Oregon fighting the wildfires there. He and Tami have evacuated their animals and some of their furniture, as the fires are dangerously close to their home. Our entire family will be getting together at the end of August as Jonathan and Tami are getting married! I will be standing up for my brother ("grooms maid"?), and Caroline will be marrying them, if the state of Oregon recognizes her as a minister (Caroline was ordained on the internet to legally marry Ian and me in California in 2000, but each state has different rules ). The marriage will take place in my mom’s beautiful backyard. Very cool. We all love Tami and her daughter, Nicole, and are excited to have her in our family.

I cut my hair a couple weeks ago. My new agents, Belle and Bernie, want me to have a new look. I told them that cutting my hair wasn’t at all a new look for me, as for most of my Baywatch years it was short and that is how most people know me, but they prevailed and now I have a much shorter do, which I like very much. I cant style it for the life of me, though, so I have to go back and get a lesson on how to blow dry this cut. Sigh. I wish I had a better knack at the makeup/hair/clothes stuff, but I don’t – you’d think I would, after 22 years in a makeup chair, but alas, no.

As much as I wish it would, long hair doesn’t suit me. And the producers of Baywatch will not be thrilled that I cut my hair, but I think it was a good move. My new agents are smart! And with my very smart manager, Daniel, I cant lose. I have great fans and a great representatives – how lucky am I?

I know you all want to know what is going on with the Baywatch Reunion Movie. Well, as of now, we begin shooting in Hawaii on September 9th. David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Jeremy Jackson, Yasmine Bleeth, Carmen Electra, John Allen Nelson, Gena Lee Nolan and myself are all coming back. Others too, but I don’t know who else yet. I think there about a dozen original cast members will be in the movie, which will air on Fox in the United States, will be sold all around the world to different markets, and eventually go to video to live on in perpetuity. What will the story line be? Hmmmm…I cant give that away! How can I come back if my character, Lt. Stephanie Holden, died in the original series? Hmmmm…I cant give that away either! But it will be a typical Baywatch romp, with lots of rescues and bathing suits, so stay tuned!

I wish you all a wonderful August.
